Tow Deformation Behaviors in Resin-Impregnated Glass Fibers under Different Flow Rates

With the rapid development of high-performance fibers such as carbon, enhanced glass in structural applications, use fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) materials has also increased many areas. Liquid molding (LCM) is a widely used manufacturing process manufacturing; however, impregnation resin reinforcing during processing poses significant issue. The optimization related to tow deformations fibers. present study therefore focuses on this deformation. permeability behaviors double-scale porous media were observed under different flow rates and viscosity conditions examine overall tendencies changes reinforcement. results showed hysteresis with increasing decreasing rate 50–800 mm3/s, indicating respect thickness investigated terms representative indices minor axis (tow thickness) major axis. trends 2–5% 2%, respectively, minimum maximum values at positions along reinforcement, affected by hydrodynamic entry lengths.
